The Department of General and Liberal Studies at the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University is different from the other departments, because it services all the other academic departments. It does not possess its own students as it is in the case of other departments. The Liberal Studies Department provides a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge for general and liberal education within a multi-disciplinary framework, which encourages students to develop interpretative, creative and critical minds in order to enhance their learning and communication in appropriate socio- cultural contexts. Working closely with all the Academic Departments, it is mandated to equip students of the University with the basic as well as advanced concepts in the following courses: English Language, Communication Skills, Business Communication, Functional French, Secretarial French, Principles of Law, Economics, Mathematics, Research Methodology, Quantitative Methods, Entrepreneurship and relevant knowledge in African Studies to enable students function effectively as future professionals and technocrats.
