Key Qualifications

Solomon Ali Dansieh holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Higher Education Management) from the University of Bath, UK. He also holds MPhil in Linguistics and has more than 20 years of professional experience in a number of language and communication projects. His expertise and skills cover a very broad spectrum including grammar, applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, translation and lexicography.  He has over 15 years   of teaching and research experience in the Wa Polytechnic, Ghana and in Polytechnic education and management in general.  He was co-translator of the Old Testament of the  Bible from English into Waalii between 1996 and 2000 and has compiled a bilingual dictionary (English – Waalii Dictionary) with 85,064 entries and published by SIL International in 2017. In 2005, he translated the Jesus Film from English into Waalii. He has travelled to over 7 countries in Africa, Europe, and North America on professional matters, including professional meetings. He has consulted for the Volta River Authority (VRA), Korea Electric Corporation (KEPCO), Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED) (Germany), and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Seed Company, USA and USAID AVANCE Program. He served as the Acting Rector of the Wa Polytechnic, Ghana from 1st October 2009 to 30th September, 2010. Before this, he had successfully served as Vice Rector from January 2008 to September 2009 and Dean of Students from 2004 to December 2007. Until his election to the substantive position of Vice Rector, he had also served as Acting  Vice Principal/Rector from August 2005 to December 2007. He was Vice Chairman, and later Chairman of the local branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) from 2003 to 2007. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of General and Liberal Studies, handling Communication Skills and Secretarial English and also the Director of Research and Academic Programmes Development. He has fifteen publications in refereed journals.
