CHAIRMAN’S ADDRESS AT THE 5TH CONGREGATION CEREMONY OF DHLTU HELD ON SATURDAY MAY 18, 2024

On behalf of the Governing Council of Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University, I warmly welcome you all to the 5th Congregation Ceremony of this noble University. I convey my sincere appreciation to our Special Guest of Honor, and all invited guest who have responded positively to our invitation to be here. I extend a special welcome to the graduands, their parents, guardians, friends and all who have made it to our ceremonial grounds to celebrate with us.

Distinguished invited Guests, ladies and gentlemen, as part of our mandate as prescribed by the Technical Universities Act, 2016 Act 922 section 30 “a Technical University may hold a congregation composed of the persons prescribed by Statutes for the purpose of conferring degrees and awarding diplomas and certificates”. We are therefore here to witness the conferment of Higher National Diplomas on our 2023 graduands who have satisfied all the requirements of the University. This event marks the climax of three years of sacrifice, hard work and dedication on the part of our students and mentorship on the part of our staff, both teaching and non-teaching. It is also an occasion for the head of the Institution to give us a briefing on the state of the University.

Ladies and gentlemen, today’s congregation marks the fifth of its kind after the Institution was converted to a Technical University in April 2020. Our collective efforts have brought us this far and I take this opportunity to commend the government, the Council and Staff of the University.

I am proud to say that our university has benefited greatly from the unwavering support and commitment of the Council, and I reiterate the importance of continuing this support as we strive to achieve even greater heights of excellence in the years to come. We will continue to selflessly commit to ensuring the University enjoys a peaceful working environment for the successful execution of its mandate of research, teaching and learning.  Council will continue to provide platforms that will interface the institution and its stakeholders so as to guarantee smooth administration and academic work.

I would also like to take this opportunity to commend the staff of the University for their invaluable contribution and cooperation with both management and the Council. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in driving the success of our university.

As we look to the future, I urge the staff to continue working hand in hand with management and the Council to uphold the values of our institution and to ensure that the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University remains a center of excellence in technical education and training.

Today, as we celebrate the achievements of our graduating students, I am compelled to address a pressing issue that affects not only our university but also the wider community, the completion of abandoned projects. Across the University campus, there are numerous projects that have been left unfinished due to various reasons, leaving behind uncompleted structures.

I urge contractors who have been entrusted with the responsibility of executing these projects to fulfill their obligations and complete the work they have started. I will also like to use this opportunity to call upon the government to provide the necessary funds and resources for the completion of the abandoned projects. These projects are vital for the development of our University.

To the graduating class of 2023, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Your accomplishments fill us with pride, and we have every confidence that you will go on to achieve great success in your future endeavors. You should endeavour to continue your education and pursue lifelong learning opportunities. Whether through further studies or professional development courses, never stop investing in yourself and expanding your knowledge and skills.

Additionally, I urge you to be of good behavior and to support your Alma mater in any way you can. Remember that you are ambassadors of our university, and your actions and achievements reflect the values and reputation of our institution. Stay connected with your alma mater, mentor and support current students, and contribute to the continued success and growth of Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University.

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen I wish to once again convey my profound gratitude and appreciation to you and all invited guest who have made time to come here to celebrate with us.  May the Almighty God Bless you All.

Thank you.
